Are You Maximizing the Perceived Value of Your Products?
How product design can drive customer engagement. Part 1.
A common ask from clients in commodity industries is to provide the best possible product at the lowest possible price.
When it comes to promotional products, most clients understand that at some point the push for best price will put the quality of the product at risk – which ultimately puts the brand at risk.
Sometimes the best lens is not price itself, but rather: how do you deliver the best possible perceived value at any given price?
There are some easy, cost-effective ways to increase the perceived value of your merchandise without spending a lot more on product. Several products, for example, have decoration areas that allow you to go beyond your logo and get creative with your art – with no additional charge for maximizing that decoration area when sticking to a one colour imprint.
When you take the time to make your products look a little more retail-inspired, you elevate your merchandise in the eyes consumers.
A few quick creative tips:
- Don’t be afraid to let your logo take a back seat. Be confident in using your brand palette to make the merchandise brand-driven, and let your logo be subtle.
- Use your brand patterns. Don’t have any? Create some!
- Leverage retail trends. Three design trends we’re seeing in 2019: metallic, 3D and glitch + ruined.
With a little extra budget, taking advantage of the variety of new and evolving decoration methods that are available – from patches on hats, to laser on apparel, to edge-to-edge deboss on notebooks – you can take your product from standard swag to a retail-worthy, trend-inspired gift.
